The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Major Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, later that same month, the channel unveiled a completely new animated series with a strikingly different tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, evoking a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. In an era often characterized by cynicism, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to develop the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose defining trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four central characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

A President's Endorsement

The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who found the show and championed its uniquely offbeat sensibility.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something unexpectedly cozy about observing this charming family navigate their everyday routines.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his goal to evolve comedy past its current sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

The Path Forward

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well catalyze that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences a little more time to bask in the heartfelt moments of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The entire series is currently streaming on HBO Max.
