Star Refutes Anti-Vax Position Following Voicing Disputed Pandemic Feature

The acclaimed actor has lent his narration to a recent film that questions the legitimacy of vaccines and commends one-time cabinet secretary RFK Jr.

The Film's Contentious Origins

Titled "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a popular book written by a controversial scientist, who gained notoriety during the pandemic for claims that the virus was linked to a bad strain of the influenza shot.

Her writing partner, Kent Heckenlively, has also written books with far-right figure the Infowars host. He took to social media celebrating Neeson's role in the documentary.

An Unequivocal Denial

A spokesperson for the actor have released a response firmly refuting implications that he supports anti-vaccine beliefs.

"Many acknowledge that misconduct can exist within the medical sector, but that must not be confused with opposition to vaccines," the statement explains. "Liam has never been, and is not, anti-vaccination. His considerable work with Unicef reinforces his long-held support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."

It continued that the performer was not involved in crafting the project's editorial content and that inquiries about its content should be directed to the creators.

Central Claims In the Documentary

As presented, the narration provided by Neeson includes several strong claims:

  • It claims that pro-vaccine voices have called for "blind obedience" to public institutions.
  • It declares that "research has become dangerously politicised."
  • Kennedy is featured claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they are not safely tested."
  • The film further attacks pandemic restrictions, arguing they caused mental anguish that resulted in thousands of lives.
  • Regarding pandemic shots, it mentions a view that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "hazardous tests."

Previous Context and Recent Disputes

The film further cites a historical film about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the subject of a BBC apology by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.

Recently, the political figure instructed the CDC to alter its longstanding position that there is no connection between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is echoed in the documentary, even with a new report from the WHO reiterating no such link has been found.

A Past Position of Endorsement

Differing from the documentary's narrative, Neeson has formerly shown strong support for vaccines in his role as a charity ambassador.

Two years ago, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary triumph," noting that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has lost sight of how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in human history."

"Plague of Corruption" finishes with Neeson's voice stating, "This isn't the finish of our story. It is the beginning of a different phase."
