The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Tottenham and Increase Tension on the Manager
Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were told afterwards "those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.
Spurs let in a pair of scores in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth Premier League home loss of 2025.
However the main talking point was Fulham's second goal when Vicario lost possession well outside his box.
He came out to deal with a high pass and carried the ball near the sideline.
But, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.
King passed the ball off to Welsh midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six metres.
Moments later when the ball went to Vicario again, some Tottenham supporters booed him.
The team were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.
A particular of those booing sessions truly irritated the manager.
"I heard a few of our fans reportedly jeered the incident and booed following, which, in my opinion is totally unacceptable," the Dane commented regarding the fans' response to his shot-stopper.
"[They] can't be real Tottenham supporters that do that. Alright jeering following the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are with one another moving ahead."
Kenny Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute lead before Wilson's goal โ with Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second period performance.
Former Premier League keeper Hart remarked that the next goal was "completely preventable".
"I do understand the fans' disappointment," Hart continued. "I am aware the part the keeper is playing. He's a excellent squad member, he's a true figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.
"He was deeply involved in what ended up to be the decisive score."
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Match
Italian national team Vicario is in his 3rd campaign with Spurs.
He said following the match that he had to take the criticism.
"That goal was a error of mine, I accept accountability for it," he said.
"The intent was to clear the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a poor way. That made an even bigger challenge to climb."
He said being booed "is part of football".
"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he continued. "We can't be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. The fans have the right to do what they think.
"It is on us to stay more calm, to concentrate on ourselves. We are lacking in composure and calmness to overturn results. This match is a bad loss and it is hard to accept."
In spite of the keeper's error, it was far from an easy score for Harry Wilson to score.
In fact it was the second longest-range top division goal of the season โ after Adams' 43.3 metre strike for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which incidentally too occurred on the same day.
The goalscorer said he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an open net to target.
Ten seconds passed between the keeper exiting of his box and the midfielder striking โ which was 5 seconds after the clearance.
"I felt like the goalkeeper was out of the area for ages," he remarked.
"I was surprised none of the defenders returned to the line. When none of them covered the goal, my eyes lit up a bit.
"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which gave me a little extra opportunity. Then it was all about attempting to achieve the right connection and get it towards goal. I had a good feeling, as soon as it left my foot, that it was heading in."
Booing While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unjustifiable - the Manager
Although Vicario's error led coverage, this was an overall bad performance for Tottenham to extend their home ground woes.
This was their tenth at home defeat of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint team record matching nineteen ninety-four and 2003.
They still have home fixtures against the manager's former club the Bees and title holders the Reds to play before the close of the year.
Only one of those wins have come since the manager took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.
"When you're down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated the boss.
"When you're in a poor run, all aspects appears to work against you too โ the opening was a redirected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.
"This result puts us in a place where we have suffered another game. Every game has a single narrative, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.
"We simply need to keep working. The second half was much better and with luck something we can utilize to learn."
Spurs have been defeated in 4 straight at home capital clashes for the first time in the Premier League.
Furthermore they are averaging nine point five attempts and three point two shots on target per game in the division โ their lowest averages on file in a one campaign (since at least the 2003-04 season).
Former Cottagers midfielder Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He's got take the stick," Murphy said. "He has accepted a prestigious role at a major football club with massive anticipation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.
"The performances at home have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
