Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his position after another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got significant backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win naturally but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

The manager lamented familiar weaknesses from his team in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a spell like this with results this poor.”

He concluded, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone again the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
